The Eyes Inc
COLOUR BLIND STORY BOOK

Problem

Children age 4 and above go untested for colour blindness as most parents do not see the importance of going for a check up which can lead to bullying in school and affect their daily lives later on or at work.

Solution

I designed and illustrated a story book for preschoolers to help teachers identify kids who may have colour blindness. Inspired by Ishihara test(colourblind dots), what appears to be a regular storybook, is actually a book that has hidden dotted diagrams within each page, kids are asked to identify the "hidden" character. Those with colourblindness will have difficulty looking for them due to the

limited colour range they see. The teachers will take note of who they are

and advise the parents for a free colourblindness check up at one of the

partner's clinics.

Creating the character

Several sketches of development were done using Hue the Hedgehog as the main hero in the story as hedgehog is an animal that has colour blindness and also it is cute as a mascot.
